This site answers one intent: **where can I pick up a hire car where I arrive?**

## intent: car-hire-at-arrival

- **Ask:** an airport (IATA code or name), a railway station or a city in Switzerland, Germany, France, Italy or Austria.
- **Find the id:** `GET https://picktheauto.com/api/v1/places.json` → `places[]` with `type`, `id`, `code` (airports), `name`, `aka`, `city`, `desks`, `json`.
- **Answer:** `GET` the place's `json`:
  - `desks[]`, nearest first: `company`, `where`, `km`, `dir` (compass direction), `kind`, `min` (stations: minutes on foot), `web`, `hours`, `lat`/`lon`, `id` (the OpenStreetMap object).
  - `compare`: `url` (partner search with the place filled in), `partner`, `opens` (the place the search opens at), `awayKm` (0 = this place; more = the partner's nearest page), `also` (Localrent, where it has a page).
- **Not found:** the place isn't covered yet (only the five countries, airports with scheduled flights, and stations with direct trains across borders).

## Rules for agents

- Desks come from OpenStreetMap (Fri 6 Nov 2026); say so, and that the company's own page has the final word on hours and location.
- No prices here. Never invent one; send the user to `compare.url`.
- No ranking: present desks by distance, never as "best".
